Bishops Baseball On Deck

5.4.12. Halfway through the baseball season, our Messmer Bishops are showing a good display of sportsmanship, cooperation, and teamwork. Even though the team hasn’t picked up a win, coaches and players are confident that it won’t remain that way. “I am hopeful that we can turn a page and start writing a new chapter for this program. We have the potential to win some games, and I believe we will win,” says Messmer Computer Teacher and Coach Chad Hofmann. Last year only losing one senior meant bringing back a lot of players, which gives the team some experience. Hofmann added, “We are a more experienced group than last year, and because of that more talented.”
The team is lead by Senior Myles Childs, a 2010-11 All-Conference player. Childs also is confident that the team’s bad luck will turn around. “We will slowly get better and win a few games toward the end of the year. We will get better but only with more practice,” Childs said. When asked about the thing that most surprised them, they both commented on freshman Raymund Pierce. Raymund is leading the team with a (.611) batting average, ranking second in the conference.  Myles had this to say about Pierce, “He’s a definite help to the team, I can see he will lead Messmer by his senior year.” Coach Hofmann added, “We’ve had some positives, including excellent play from freshman Raymund Pierce.” The team will keep progressing and getting better, and is confident that it will show with a win against Milwaukee King tonight, and Milwaukee Madison tomorrow.
